is 13 miles south east Stratford and until 1931 was part of
Worcestershire. In the 8th
century, it became known as ‘Sheep-wash-Town’
because the
river was used for washing sheep. There are a
number of Georgian houses and old inns, and the church, rebuilt in
1855, retains a 15th century tower. Warwickshire is one of the three
main counties of the Cotswolds, and Shipston is the main town of this
part of the
North Cotswolds. |
